Before his tenure at HMR Veterans Services, Labeed served as President, CEO, and Board Director at ATI Physical Therapy, a leading provider of physical therapy services nationwide. During his tenure, he orchestrated the company’s strategic direction, fostering growth, optimizing clinical operations, and fortifying support functions, thereby solidifying its position within the industry.
Prior to his role at ATI, Labeed held key executive positions at prominent organizations, including Humana and Brookdale Senior Living. At Humana, he assumed the role of President, overseeing the comprehensive portfolio of Humana Pharmacy Solutions, while at Brookdale, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, steering the profitability and performance of over 1,150 locations across 47 states.
Notably, Labeed has served in key leadership roles including Walmart Inc., where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s healthcare initiatives. During his tenure, he served as President of Health & Wellness for the U.S., President of the Midwest Division, and held positions as Vice President and General Manager. His contributions to Walmart underscore his adeptness in driving innovation and operational efficiency within large-scale retail enterprises.
Labeed’s journey in the healthcare industry commenced as a Pharmacy Manager with American Stores Company (Jewel-Osco). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and has completed an advanced management program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Labeed actively contributes to various boards, including Hello Sage and Paragon Healthcare, and serves as a member of the Board of Advisors for Mars Veterinary Health. He and his wife, Sanaa, are proud parents to four adult children pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies. In his leisure time, Labeed enjoys traveling and cherishing moments with his family.

Alan is an accomplished healthcare executive with more than three decades of experience and expertise spanning healthcare finance, banking, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and operational restructuring.
Before joining HMR, Alan served as Chief Financial Officer for Eventus WholeHealth, where he built the financial infrastructure to support rapid expansion, completed multiple acquisitions, and implemented advanced reporting for management, investors, and board members. He has held senior leadership roles including CFO and COO of the Laser Spine Institute, President and COO of Pain Specialist of America, and Executive Vice President of Finance, Legal, and Compliance Officer for Physicians Choice Laboratory Services. His career also includes extensive experience in hospital and physician practice operations, rural health system turnarounds, and the creation and growth of specialized healthcare service companies.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Campbell served as Vice President and CFO of Capital Health Management Group, Inc., Director of Finance and M&A for CareOne, Inc., and held senior finance roles in healthcare and retail operations. He has also served as a board member for LTC ACO, LLC (Genesis HealthCare), a Medicare Shared Savings Plan ACO.
Alan earned his Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Georgia Southern University and completed a concentration in Finance at the University of Florida.

Bryanna Wegner joined the HMR team in July 2023 as Chief Clinical Officer, leading the clinical team to provide the highest quality of care to our Veterans. With an extensive background in executive leadership and post-acute care, Bryanna has leveraged her knowledge to build award winning clinical teams that prioritize clinical excellence.
Before her tenure at HMR Veteran Services, Bryanna served as Chief Nursing Officer for a growing post-acute care company that grew the organization to 46 skilled-nursing communities in 5 years. Bryanna was awarded the McKnight’s Woman of Distinction award in 2022 due to her unwavering dedication to the skilled nursing industry. She has also been awarded the American Healthcare Association’s Silver and Gold Awards for excellence in quality.
Bryanna holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan. Bryanna is married and has three children. In her spare time, she loves reading, spending time outside and watching college basketball.

Before joining HMR Veterans Services, she served as a Shareholder at Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A., where she provided regulatory compliance guidance to healthcare entities, including health systems, skilled nursing facilities, and physician practices. Her work included navigating the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and HIPAA requirements, as well as supporting healthcare providers during acquisitions and divestments. Earlier in her career, Meghan gained valuable experience as a Corporate Compliance Analyst at Prisma Health, focusing on regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
Meghan is a highly accomplished attorney with over a decade of experience in healthcare law, compliance, and litigation. Recognized as a trusted leader in her field, she has earned multiple awards, including Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and South Carolina Super Lawyers® Rising Stars in Healthcare Law, for her expertise in navigating complex healthcare regulations and mitigating organizational risks.
Meghan earned her Juris Doctor from Pace Law School, graduating with honors and receiving a Merit Scholarship, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Visual Arts from Fordham University.
In addition to professional achievements, Meghan has held leadership roles within several organizations. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Health Care Law Section Council and has served on the boards of Project Host, the Greenville Chamber Board of Advisors, Reedy Fork Center for Community Development, and Generations Group Home, where she was Board Chair. She also held leadership positions with the Warehouse Theatre and Upstate International. She is admitted to practice law in New York and South Carolina.

Since joining HMR Veterans Services in 2004, has overseen the transition and startup of thirteen State Veterans Homes, ensuring the successful implementation of full IT infrastructure at each location. His ability to deliver technology solutions that streamline operations, enhance security, and support organizational growth has established him as a visionary and strategic leader in the long-term care industry teams.
Alex simultaneously serves as HMR’s HIPAA Security Officer, working closely with the Privacy Officer to maintain compliance with federal regulations while safeguarding sensitive data. His leadership has advanced the organization’s focus on cybersecurity by implementing robust risk management protocols and fostering a secure technological environment across all operations.
Alex earned a Master of Science in Information and Security Systems from The University of the Cumberlands, and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Franklin University.

Prior to her current role, Elaine served as HMR’s Controller from 2013 to 2023, where she managed financial reporting requirements, prepared annual budgets, and coordinated external audits, including those required for Medicare, Medicaid, and worker’s compensation programs. She also led on-site training efforts to support the integration and execution of various financial systems, including the 2017 payroll and timeclock system conversion.
Elaine is a highly experienced financial executive with extensive knowledge of the State Veterans Home program and federal reimbursement processes.
Before joining HMR, Elaine worked in the multi-family affordable housing industry for 15 years and in manufacturing accounting for 7 years, developing a broad base of financial management expertise.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of South Carolina Upstate (formerly the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg).

His career includes leadership roles at SFE Holdings and Elior North America, where he led organic and non-organic growth plans, worked on improving operational efficiency, and on bolstering support level functions’ impact to core services. Additionally, Ivan has experience in the selection of and in driving returns for venture and private equity endeavors, working with founders to accelerate the value to their customers and of their business.
Ivan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and in History and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University, and The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, respectively.
A native of Charlotte, NC, Ivan resides there with his wife and two children. An Eagle Scout and avid supporter of the Boy Scouts, he enjoys outdoor activities, exercising with friends, reading, as well as spending time with his family.

Russell Keogler serves as the Vice President of Corporate Operations for HMR Veterans Services. In this role, he oversees systems and processes that enhance operational efficiency and ensure consistency across all HMR State Veterans Homes. His responsibilities include managing organizational policies and procedures, directing stakeholder communication and marketing efforts, and providing executive oversight of Facility Services and Dietary operations.
Before this current role, Russell served as HMR’s Regional Vice President of Operations in South Carolina, where he directed day-to-day operations for four State Veterans Homes. During his tenure, he successfully managed the opening of the Palmetto Patriots Home and Veteran Village, achieving VA recognition for both facilities. He also implemented operational strategies to enhance performance metrics, improve Veteran satisfaction, and stabilize workforce retention. As the primary liaison with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Russell ensured HMR’s alignment with contractual requirements and maintained compliance with federal regulations.
Russell is a dedicated healthcare executive with a 17-year career spanning pre-hospital, acute, and long-term care, including 11 years in leadership roles within State Veterans Homes. A licensed Nursing Home Administrator in South Carolina, he is recognized for driving operational excellence and aligning strategic initiatives to deliver high-quality care, foster community connections, and support Veterans and their families — with a proven track record of consistently achieving favorable outcomes and experiences for the Veterans and communities he serves.
Russell earned three Master’s Degrees from Stony Brook University in Business Administration, Public Health, and Public Policy, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He is actively engaged in professional organizations, serving as the Region/POD 2 Director (representing South Carolina) for the National Association of State Veterans Homes.

Dalton Freeman began his career with HMR Veterans Services Inc. as an intern in 2010 while attending Clemson University. During his time at Clemson, Dalton played football and earned many accolades, including being named an All-American on the field, in the classroom, and in the weight room. He is only the 4 th Tiger in history to be named an All-American on the field and in the classroom in the same academic year. After receiving two degrees, graduating both times with honors, Dalton went on to play in the NFL for the NY Jets, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills.
After retiring from the NFL, Dalton followed his passion and rejoined HMR to “Serve Those Who Served” – the Veterans of this great country. He has been intrinsically involved in many different areas of the business, including Human Resources, Operations, Government Relations, and Marketing. In 2021, he was one of only 42 professionals selected at the national level to participate in the Future Leaders of Long Term Care program, hosted by the American Health Care Association.
Dalton currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for both the Ed Childress Memorial Employee Assistance Fund and Honor Health Career Programs. He is also the PAC Chairman for the South Carolina Health Care Association and serves on many other local, state, and national committees, including the National Workforce Committee through the American Health Care Association. Dalton and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 10 years. They are blessed with 2 wonderful children, Reese and Luke, and currently reside in Anderson, SC.

Michael McBride II has been a vital member of the HMR Veterans Services Inc. team since 2015. As Director of Operations, HMRx, Michael has contributed over 15 years of expertise in the long-term care industry.
Having graduated from Clemson University in 2010. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. He participated in the Administrator in Training program with in 2010 and has been a licensed nursing home administrator in South Carolina and North Carolina since 2011. Michael has also been a registered pharmacy technician in South Carolina, Maryland and Alabama since 2020. His experience and expertise add a rich array of knowledge to our organization. Michael has also gained experience in pharmacy operations, design, consulting, finance, compliance, Part D Billing, contract management, and strategic management.
On a personal note, Michael would like to share: “I currently reside in Greenville, SC with my wife and four kids and enjoy spending time my family, competitive golf, and Clemson sports.”

Bill Birmingham has been a member of the HMR Veterans Services Inc. team for the past decade. Starting his HMR career at South Carolina’s Richard M. Campbell State Veterans Home in 2014 as the Administrator, he then moved into the role of Regional Vice-President of Operations for Texas VSI in 2016 for the next six years. In 2022, Bill became the RVP for South Carolina where he remains today. Bill contributes 42 years of Long-Term Care expertise in this field.
Having graduated from the University of Alabama in 1982, Bill earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management. In the past 42 years, Bill has been involved with some of the largest healthcare providers in the country and has been in many vital roles such as Owner-Operator, Chief Operations Officer, Strategic Planning Officer, and Vice President of Operations. Bill brings with him an in-depth knowledge with Medicare, Medicaid, and VA regulations. He has served on State Healthcare Boards for both Alabama and South Carolina. Currently, he is a Member on the South Carolina Board of Labor, Licensing and Regulations for Long Term Care Administrators.
Bill currently resides in Anderson, South Carolina with his wife of 34 years, Jill. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and 3 children. The Birmingham family has four Healthcare Administrators, a Social Worker and a Nurse, and they see their careers in healthcare not s a job, but a “way of life”.

Scott T. Hurst has been a member of the HMR Veterans Services Inc. family since November 1, 2007. As Regional Vice President of Operations, Scott contributes over 28 years of expertise in this field.
In 1995, Scott graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery earning his B.A. in Communications. He is licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator and Preceptor through the Alabama Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators and is certified in Risk Management (RMC). He adds a plethora of knowledge and expertise to our organization. Scott has also gained experience in the acute care setting, having worked in a hospital for two years prior to entering the long-term care field.
Scott and his wife of 30 years, Krystal, currently call Daphne, Alabama home. He enjoys spending time with his wife, four children and three spoiled dogs on their family farm in central Alabama.

and federal survey outcomes, improved operating margins, and reduced reliance on contract
staffing. She is recognized for her disciplined, systems-focused leadership approach, aligning
operational strategy with clinical quality, workforce engagement, and regulatory requirements.
Ms. Campbell is a 2007 graduate of Ball State University and maintains licensure as a Licensed Social Worker and Health Facility Administrator.

Jan Childress McCrary has long been a pillar of leadership and purpose in South Carolina’s Upstate business and philanthropic communities. As Chairwoman of HMR Veterans Services, she helps lead the only organization in the country solely dedicated to the operation of State Veterans Homes—an enterprise rooted in Anderson, SC, and now serving veterans across South Carolina, Alabama, and Texas.
Jan’s connection to HMR Veterans Services is deeply personal. Her late husband, Ed Childress, was one of the company’s original founders. Together, they shared a vision for delivering high-quality, dignified care to those who served our country—an enduring commitment that continues to guide HMR’s mission today. Under Jan’s chairwomanship, the organization has expanded its reach while remaining grounded in its founding values: honor, respect, and compassionate service for America’s aging heroes.
One of the most enduring reflections of her influence is the Ed Childress Memorial Employee Assistance Fund. Chaired by Jan in honor of her late husband and company co-founder, the Fund has provided nearly $2 million in financial support to employees experiencing personal hardship. Sustained primarily through staff contributions, it continues to serve as one of the clearest examples of the culture Jan has helped shape, defined by generosity, trust, and shared responsibility.
“True care begins within,” Jan says. “When we take care of our people, when we listen, uplift, and stand by one another, we create a culture strong enough to serve veterans with the honor and dignity they deserve.”
Beyond her role at HMR, Jan has devoted decades to public service and civic leadership. She currently serves as Vice Chair and incoming Chair of the Medical University of South Carolina Foundation Board.
Her board service includes the Hollings Cancer Center Advisory Board where she continues to serve, as well as past roles with Clemson University IPTAY Board, Clemson University Board of Visitors, South Carolina Make-A-Wish Board, and the Cancer Society of Greenville County. She also served on the Furman University Advisory Council and chaired Pickens County Meals on Wheels. Additionally, Jan was a Board Director for Upstate Warrior Solution, supporting post-9/11 veterans and their families throughout the region.
Jan played a pivotal role in Clemson University’s transformational “Will to Lead” campaign, co-chairing the Barker Scholars Endowment and serving on the campaign’s executive committee.
Through every endeavor, Jan Childress McCrary-McCrary leads with humility, strength, and a steadfast commitment to the people and communities she serves. Her impact is felt not only by the thousands of veterans and caregivers supported by HMR, but also by the broader South Carolina community that continues to benefit from her vision, leadership, and legacy.

John was most recently CEO of MyOrthos, a private equity backed Orthodontia practice roll-up. MyOrthos had 87 Orthodontist partners in 12 states and conducted over 2.5 million annual visits. John led the turnaround and successful sale of the business to a large strategic partner.
Prior to MyOrthos, John was the Founder & CEO of HealthPRO-Heritage (HPH), a leading provider of rehabilitation services to the post-acute care sector including SNFs, HH agencies, senior living and schools. HPH grew organically and through strategic acquisitions from $9m in revenue in 2008 to a current run rate of $550m. The company completed two successful re-capitalization events resulting in strong investor returns.
Prior to HPH, John was CEO of Housecall Medical Resources, a homecare and hospice provider with operations in seven states. He directed a successful turnaround and sale of the company where investors received a 12x cash-on-cash return. Prior to Housecall, John was President of the Post-Acute Care Division of Integrated Health Services, managing the operations of over 400 skilled nursing facilities and related services. He began his career with the Management Consulting Division of E&Y.
He was a 2015 E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year award winner in Maryland. John is involved in a number of charitable organizations and has served on the Boards of multiple PE backed companies. He was awarded the Rev. Jack Sharp Award for his “spirit, leadership, compassion, tenacity and vision” in supporting housing and services for the elderly in Baltimore City.
John earned an MHA and MPA from the Ohio State University and a BA from Denison University.

Chris Lupo is at the forefront of innovation and leadership in both the financial and healthcare sectors. He is the head of AFO, a multi-family office in Greenville, SC and Owner and Co-Manager of InvestSouth, an alternative investment platform for his family clients. Under his leadership, these companies support his clients’ planning, administrative, operational and investment objectives.
Chris has over fifteen years of experience with healthcare operating companies. His journey began in 2008 when he began representing one of the owners of HMR Advantage Health System. He was intricately involved in their sale of twenty-one nursing homes with a related hospice, rehab company and institutional pharmacy to a private equity-backed operator in 2010. The owners of HMR Advantage retained HMR Veteran Services where Chris has been a longtime advisor and in 2024 became a member of the Board of Directors.
In 2013, Chris advised Heritage Healthcare, a large regional contract therapy provider in a merger to form HealthPRO-Heritage which has become a nationwide $500MM+ revenue healthcare company. He subsequently served on the HealthPro-Heritage Board from 2013 to 2015 when the company completed its first private equity recap. In 2018, InvestSouth acquired Interim Healthcare of the Upstate, a homehealth, hospice and personal care provider in South Carolina where Chris serves as a board member and a lead operating partner.
After a post-college stint at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC, Chris honed his skills on the executive team of another local rapidly growing multi-site service business. The company was acquired as the initial platform for an international company entering the space. Chris went on to serve as an M&A manager for the buyer, sourcing and closing five acquisitions over the following eighteen months. Thereafter, from 2001-2007, he helped lead private investments in a single-family office in Greenville, SC.
Chris earned a degree in economics with a concentration in mathematics from Wofford College. He lives in Greenville, SC, with his wife, Alison. They have twin daughters in college.

Prior to his executive leadership roles, Rich held senior management positions at several prominent healthcare organizations and has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards. He is currently a Senior Advisor at Pappas Capital and serves on the board of Prizm Therapeutics, among other leadership roles.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Rich served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army and was awarded multiple military decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal. His continued commitment to supporting service members and military families closely aligns with HMR’s mission of serving America’s veterans.
Rich is a native South Carolinian who lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, Lou. He and Lou have two adult children and one granddaughter.
Rich’s strategic insight, governance expertise, and mission driven leadership will further strengthen HMR’s Board of Directors as the organization continues to advance its commitment to delivering exceptional care and services to veterans across the country.
