Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home

Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home

AMARILLO, TX

Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility that provides first-class care. That includes a separate, secured unit that provides specialized care for up to 30 Alzheimer’s residents in beautiful outdoor surroundings with cozy visiting areas, a special activity area, and a private dining room. Created and operated exclusively for Texas veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents, the Amarillo home offers superior care that is Medicare and Medicaid certified.

The home is named after two Panhandle heroes: former VLB member and longtime veterans advocate Mike Ussery and Medal of Honor recipient Marine PFC Charles Howard Roan. Ussery was a member of the Veterans Land Board and a longtime veterans advocate instrumental in getting a Veterans Home for Amarillo. He died just before the groundbreaking for the home. Roan died on Pelelieu when he threw himself on a grenade to save his fellow Marines.

HMR proudly provides management services to the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home on behalf of the General Land Office (GLO), Veterans Land Board (VLB) of Texas.
